It's Been A While

Well, it's been a while since i posted something on this blog. Just wanted to do a quick update and I probably won't do one for another year (hopefully not).

I moved to Seattle. Been living here working in the Aerospace industry for a little over a year now. Just bought a house, and I've been living in it for about a week now.

I've been learning a lot about home improvement and I've been watching a lot of HGTV. I guess it'll all come in handy to learn all that stuff when I sell the place.

Less Than $750 To Take Pictures In Space

Link: Million Dollar NASA Photos Beaten By Budget Balloon

This is so awesome. Some guy thought of attaching a Canon point and shoot camera to a balloon and letting it go up to take some pictures. NASA comes back and says something like that would take them millions of dollars to do, while he only used less than $750. Brilliant!!

This is an awesome concept of making a very nice looking chess set from typical hardware found at the store. The nuts and bolts chess pieces look stunning! I would love to have something like this for myself =)

Pirates Vs. Ninja

Link: Wired - Great geek debates: Pirates vs Ninja

Do you consider yourself a Pirate, or a Ninja?!? This has been the greatest geek battle of two classes. Pirates rule the sea, while Ninja are mysterious assassins of the night.

Locking Deadbolt Door From Outside... Without A Key!!!

Link: LifeHacker - Lock a Deadbolt from Ouside

This is a pretty ingenious idea. If I ever need to lock a deadbolt from the outside, i just hope i have some really strong tape when I need to do this. If anyone ever tries doing this, let me know if it works.

Pi-obsessed Japanese reach 2.5 trillion digits

Link: Cnet - Pi reaching over 2.5 trillion decimals

Gosh, that's a lot of digits. Like the article states, the Japanese has a lot of time on their hands. Why on earth would you need to know digits anywhere that long! But, it's pretty cool to have set a world record, with a supercomputer =)

Study: Facebook Makes Lovers Jealous

Link: CNET - Facebook Makes Lovers Jealous

This is not new news, but there are studies now linking the relationship between lovers and how they react to activities going on Facebook. I don't see what's so surprising. Facebook IS another means of communicating, and it's open to others to see, so it's to no surprise to have untrusting couples react the way that they do.

It's interesting hearing different stories of people and the way that they react to such things as people posting comments on your lovers page.

Before And After - 1 GB

Link: 1 GB - 1980 vs. 2009

Here's a picture of the advancement of technology. The huge thing on the left is what a 1 GB drive was like back almost 30 years ago. On the right is how a 1 GB drive (flash drive) is in 2009, but just imagine how a 1 GB would be in another ten, twenty, or thirty years from 2009. I would imagine it would be almost microscopic!!

How NetFlix Gets Movies To You So Quickly!!

Link: How Netflix gets movies to you

Read this article on the mysteries of a NetFlix warehouse. I didn't know they were so secretive. I believe there is a NetFlix warehouse in Hawaii, or so that's what I've been told.

After reading these articles, I ask myself if I would ever get NetFlix. I have considered getting NetFlix before. It is a pretty good service, from what I hear. I think most of the media that NetFlix offers can already be found on the web, so that is the main reason why I do not subscribe to them. Then again, they do have thousands of titles, so there's bound to be things that they have that I can't get!

Learn To Spell

Link: Learn To Spell

Check out this song about people on the Internet who do not know how to spell. It's a pretty funny song mocking people who write in what I consider "text" mode.

MacBook Air Survies A Plane Crash

Link: MacBook Air Survives Plane Crash

This is a pretty crazy story. I don't know what kind of laptops are able to survive plane crashes (there haven't been a lot of plane crashes around). But, just to hear this kind of story amazes me. I guess these type of laptops are tougher than I would think.

I have a Unibody MacBook, so I hope my laptop is as tough as this Air.

Facebook For Old Fogies

Here is a article that I found from Digg.com on Times Magazine about Facebook. I find this kind of ironic since I associate Times Magazine with older people.
