Well, it's been a while since i posted something on this blog. Just wanted to do a quick update and I probably won't do one for another year (hopefully not).

I moved to Seattle. Been living here working in the Aerospace industry for a little over a year now. Just bought a house, and I've been living in it for about a week now.

I've been learning a lot about home improvement and I've been watching a lot of HGTV. I guess it'll all come in handy to learn all that stuff when I sell the place.

Facebook IS another means of communicating, and it's open to others to see, so it's to no surprise to have untrusting couples react the way that they do.

Read this article on the mysteries of a NetFlix warehouse. I didn't know they were so secretive. I believe there is a NetFlix warehouse in Hawaii, or so that's what I've been told.

After reading these articles, I ask myself if I would ever get NetFlix. I have considered getting NetFlix before. It is a pretty good service, from what I hear. I think most of the media that NetFlix offers can already be found on the web, so that is the main reason why I do not subscribe to them. Then again, they do have thousands of titles, so there's bound to be things that they have that I can't get!

There is so many talks about the performance of Vista. Many are saying that it is the worst operating system there is. Others are complaining about the stability and system performance. Well, Microsoft is pushing to make Vista look better in the Consumer's eye. It has had many ads that promote the operating system.

On Microsoft's own website, it published a PDF document on way to optimize the performance of Vista. These tips include tweaking the power settings, folder options, and visual effects.

Maybe, instead of having the user tweak the operating system to have it perform better, Microsoft should incorporate it into the system itself. I'm not saying that Vista is bad, I'm just saying that it could be better, and having a 14-page PDF document from Microsoft showing you how to make it perform better just proves it.

This is my video that I put on YouTube that shows me unboxing my new iPhone 3G. So far it has been pretty good to me. I know that there are A LOT of people trying to get their hands on one of these. For myself, I called into an Apple store and they said they had some. I went down there and I was about 10th in line, so I figured it wouldn't be that bad of a wait (maybe hour max). Well, I got sucked into waiting in line for a loooong time. Half an hour turned into a hour. I figured, "Heck, I'm here for an hour, might as well wait a bit longer." Well, I ended up waiting for 2 hours. If I knew I was gonna wait that long, then I wouldn't have stayed. But, I did, and now I have myself an iPhone 3G.

As shown in the video, comes with ear buds (which can also be used as a hands-free headset), A USB cable, and a new smaller charger. Oh, and a nifty pin thingy if I ever want to switch out the SIM card.

When I was watching this movie, in the end, when Frank (played by Ryan Reynolds) was giving his thought of wisdom and experience to his son-to-be, he was speaking about Love. And when I was listening to him speak, I was thinking to myself, "Hey! This guy is speaking the truth! That is exactly what Love is and exactly what the kind of Love God has for us."

I was reading an article in the Wall Street Journal about faith. This person was blogging about the way that society puts too much weight on a person's religion and their religious background and how religion influences us so much, and questions this to the degree that it takes on for certain people in the news.

He points out a fact that people "blame" religion as the sole part of the "evil" in today's society; that without religion everything would be better. Alan points out in his article that, without religion, "evil" would probably still be around because it is not religion that bring these evil acts, but the humanness in us.

When I was reading this, I was totally saying in my mind, "Amen... yup...yup." That is exactly what the Bible describes as sin, that sin is in the world and that we need to fight against such things that corrupt us. For me, I believe that the Bible explains the truth of the world and I see it. I see how corrupted it is and how much we are just bad, with or without the Bible telling us so. And it's sad to see it. It's like someone telling you that you look ugly when it's true, but you don't want to hear it. So you blame the person that tells you the truth. That still doesn't mean that you don't look good. Same goes here, it still doesn't mean that the world is corrupt.

But the Bible doesn't leave it as "the world is bad." It goes on to say, and here's the good part, that we don't have to live in a world of "evil." Because Christ Jesus died for us on the Cross, we can receive Salvation through Him and be made anew.

Now, don't get me wrong and say that life is going to be paradise, that's not what it means to be living in a world without "evil." It means that we are not bound to such things because Jesus has overcome it for us on the cross. We are still living in the world, but are not of it. We are still going to face the "evil" but with God, we are able to overcome it and the sins of the world.

Going back to the article, is there a thing as too much faith? No, but what are you having your faith be put upon. Is it in someone else? Is it on what the person who kills hundreds say? Is it on the people that gossip around? Or is it in the word of God and the truth that is preached to all nations?

It's the new years and the year has ended and a new year is gonna begin. With each year I gain different experiences and have different goals. What better to bring in a new year than with a New Years Resolution for 2008.

After thinking really thoroughly about my goals for this coming year, I have come up with three aspects for my life: Spiritual, Physical, and Personal.

Spiritual: Deliberately witness and save someone to the Lord so that they may be discipled by myself or another, so that I may experience what God has wanted. It's tough to win someone to the Lord. So much prayer goes into witnessing and opportunities come and go, but I want to make it a point to find someone who does not know the salvation of Christ Jesus and let them come to know Him.

Physical: Do a cardial activity consistently (consistently a couple/few times a week) for at least a month. It is also tough to find time to exercise and to keep in shape. I hope to do something that will keep the pounds off, such as running, playing ball, or something that will keep me active.

Personal: (1)Find a new friend that I am able to hang out with outside of school and/or church. (2)Learn to play the drums enough to play along with at least 3 songs.

These are my new year resolution for 2008. It probably will not be easy to do, but I am writing it here in my blog so that I can keep an account of what I NEED to do. Some say New Years resolutions are meant to be broken, but I am making it a resolution to keep my resolution.

This is the demo of the new Linux MCE0704, which is an add on to Kubuntu 7.10. From what I saw from the video demo, this is a stable version and looks to have many features that give the user greater versatility. The product looks very professional and, if all works well, can exceed the ability of mainstream Media Centers software such as Microsoft's Media Center Edition and Apple's front row. Watching this makes me wanna put this on one of my computers!

This is such an awesome skit that was produced by Lighthouse. I really loved the part where the girl is about to commit suicide, but then throws the gun away and trieds to reach onto Jesus, then he fights them off of her to save her from them.

The incredible thing about this skit is it depicts many real world situations within our society. Fitting in and living up to the social standard can influence people to do and feel things that God did not intend for us. The sins of the people has made the earth a fallen world where things like these may happen. Only through Christ Jesus, who died for all of us who are imperfect, can we stand with joy and peace.

We've been tracking Honda's FCX fuel-cell hybrid on and off since we first heard about the concept way back in 2004, and it looks like a lucky few will finally be able to get their hands on one soon -- the company unveiled the production version of the car, the FCX Clarity, at the LA Auto Show earlier today. While it's not clear if the zero-emissions whip still sports that hydrogen-fuel-station-finding GPS system, you'll still be able to get the "gasoline-equivalent" mileage of 68mpg combined city / highway -- but you'll have to extra-special to do it, since Honda is only leasing around 100 of the vehicles to buyers who live near one of its three hydrogen fuel stations in southern California. The rest of us will just have to struggle along with our super eco-friendly Hummer limos, we suppose.

The Three Vital Rules of "Free"

"Free." What do I mean by that?

What I'm talking about is a popular marketing tool. A powerful tool, but often abused.

To be specific, I'm talking about when you give something away with the hope of gaining (or keeping) customers. It's often risky to use this tool, but it can be used safely and effectively.

One of the best (and most commonly cited) examples is that of the Eastern food vendor at the food court in the mall. You probably know exactly what I'm talking about. You walk into the great circle of vendors... and are surrounded by a dozen choices. Each vying for your attention. You're starving, but you can't decide if you should get a salad or a hamburger.

But your state of indecision is interrupted by a polite young server, offering you a sample of the food from the Eastern vendor you're standing next to. You take the sample, and before you know it, you're at the counter. Ordering lunch. That's the tool of "free" being used successfully.

Why does it work so well? I've narrowed it down to three fundamental reasons:

Rule #1: Be practical

The food sample idea works because it's based on an obviously effective principle. If you're starving, you want the first thing that satisfies your need. In this case, your need is for nourishing food. The sample meets that need, so you naturally want more.

But suppose the server in the food court offered you a piece of gum. That's nice, but it's not what you need. You need something to satisfy your hunger. So you'll probably leave the gum vendor as quickly as you came.

As ludicrous as that example seems, the mistake is made all the time. Businesses continually try to promote themselves with freebies that have nothing to do with what their prospects need. Why? Don't they realize the mistake they're making? Or don't they care?

Meet your prospects' needs. Give them something they can use.

Rule #2: Never just give it away

You'll notice something else about the food court example. It's when the server offers you the sample. If he or she knows what they're are doing, they won't just ask if you want to try a piece of food. Nope, not if they know what they're doing. Instead, they build up the value of what they're offering...

"Would you like to try the chicken teriyaki? Everyone loves it! The spices in it make it taste wonderful."

And then they hand the sample to you... almost ceremoniously.

Granted, that doesn't happen every time you're in a food court. But when it does, don't you get a great feeling about the vendor?

To use "free" effectively, you can't just give something away. You have to make it special. You have to give your prospect a good feeling about what you're offering. And for that same reason, you should limit what you give away. If you give away practically everything, no one will want to pay for anything. You've lowered the perceived value of what you're offering.

And obviously, that's the reason food court vendors use toothpicks for samples - instead of plates.

Appeal to your prospects' feelings. Show them that they're getting something valuable.

Rule #3: Keep it from backfiring

There's one more critical element if you're going to use "free" effectively. And it's probably a good deal more important than the other two. Because if it fails, everything fails. What you're offering has to truly be high quality.

Back to the food court example. What would happen if the server handed you a sample that tasted like it was three days old and had the texture of asphalt?

If that happened, it wouldn't matter how well the server met your needs by offering you a sample. Or how pleasant they were when they gave it to you. You'd forget all that. And you'd probably hurry away, forever disillusioned about the entire chain.

Of course, when considering your own business, it's tempting to think, "Isn't it enough that I'm giving something away for free? Do I really have to worry about quality?"

You'd better! Realize that everything you offer your prospects is a reflection on your entire operation. Even if it's free. In fact, especially if it's free. Since free giveaways are often a prospect's first experience with your company, it's CRUCIAL that you make an outstandingly good first impression on them.

Give your prospects quality. Especially if it's free.

So there you have it. The three rules of "free." Now I realize, what I've just told you is probably nothing you haven't heard before. But do you really apply it like you should?

It's surprising how many people don't. Spend a little time poking around the internet. Look for businesses that offer freebies. I guarantee it, you'll find a lot of shoddy and poorly written free ebooks. Plenty of "newsletters" with hardly any real, helpful content. And hardly any of this free stuff gives you a good feeling about the businesses they're supposed to be promoting.

If your business offers any sort of freebies, make sure that they don't make these mistakes. And if they do, fix them! Spruce up your ebook. Get a unique and quality graphic "cover" for it. Make the contents a little more visually appealing. See if you can improve the quality of the information it. Same thing if you have a newsletter... or any sort of freebie for that matter.

But fix the problem before it causes any more damage. Because you can never really gauge how much damage these kind of mistakes cause.

Above all, remember, "free" is a powerful tool. But like all powerful tools, it needs to be used with extreme care.

The main thing with cycles is to roll with them and not to fight them. If you are in a high cycle, ride that wave. Get great work done and enjoy your energy. During down cycles when your energy is lagging, your emotions are more edgy, and you want to throw in the towel, just ride it out. Know that an up cycle is on its way. It is inevitable!

Sometimes, I think that people get turned off by having faith, believing in God; and now I know why. This blog of a Polish exchange student tells the tell of his adventure living with what even I would consider a Messed-Up family.

He was set up to live his exchange in America with this Christian Fundamentalist family. Now there is a reason they call 'em Fundamentalist, because they keep to the tradition of the religion. In all honesty, I kind of felt bad for the kid. I mean, he's seeing the extreme side of a certain faith. Of course he'll be ~~a bit~~ REALLY turned off by the whole experience. Even I would.

Also, its not "Christ-Like" to call people to have the devil in them. THAT is totally not what having a Savior is all about. When you put it like that, you are hating more of the person than the sin. Like Jesus said, "hate the sin, not the sinner." (well, I think he said that??)

I am very much surprised that there are people that call themselves "Christian" that are like this. This story reminds me of the movie "The Waterboy" where the waterboy's mom says things like that (you got the devil in you!). Jesus didn't teach us to to say that (well except when he told the devil to get out of Peter), he taught us to have compassion for others, not insult them when they are down, and definetely not to scare you from a relationship with Him.

I'm glad the kid left that family. Now I wish someone can explain or undo what he has witness.

I just found this site on Ebay where a "One Dollar Bill" was sold for $11.18.
This is probably one of the most stupid purchases ever to be made. I credit the fact that the seller can ever remotely get people to look at this product and consider buying it! The sells pitch that the seller used to sell the dollar bill was that the serial number was unique and that if you turn it upside down, it would be the same. LoL. This is some messed up way of making it special, but I guess it got him $11.18 for it.

My First EarthQuake

Dazed and still half asleep, I wake up to the walls of my room shaking and quaking. I wonder what in the world is happening. Soon I realized that this small island that I'm on is actually have AN EARTHQUAKE! Its surprising that an earthquake would actually happen here in the Hawaiian Islands, but in all actuality, there recently was a small earthquake that happened a couple of months ago, so its not totally surprising to have another one.

This one happened to be a much bigger wake-up for the local people here. The quake showed up on the Richter scale of over 6.0. That is pretty strong in my case since I have never been through an earthquake before. That Sunday, I thought I was gonna starve because I didn't really have any food to eat. All the places to get food were pretty much closed. All I had left at home was a bit of some crackers and some fruits.

I went to church that morning and we had service without any lights and A/C. I found it ingenious that P. Ray turned a car battery into a power source, but after a while the wires couldn't handle it. It was a change of pace to have service with no power, but we got through it. It didn't hinder our worship for our Lord.

In everything, I thank God that there was not too much damage to the islands and that not many people got injured. The worst of it was just that the electricity for the whole state went down. Soon and just in time, the power went back up right when the sun was going down and it was beginning to get dark. It just goes to show the dependency of us when it comes to how much we need electricity. But, that's how life is.

Fall Semester Can Be Oh So Busy...

I'm in bed and close my eyes and the next thing I know, I'm waking up to my alarm clock from my phone (Black Eyed Peas-Where is the love). I look at the clock and its only 7:30!! Now I know its back to school.

Classes were boring. Labs are lame. When I'm not in class I gotta go work. Computers always have problems in the Electrical Engineering Department. During the summer I was working on making a computer lab. After all those long hard hours, it was finally in completion. Today when I was leaving work, I saw a class in that room (also saw Gibu sitting there doing nothing! LoL nah jk) and I felt so proud of myself.

Well it turns out that I just freaked out when my setup screen showed up when I did a system repair on my computer. Stupid me... Went through with my setup and everything is all good and dandy here.

A few days ago was my birthday and Ginger got me a Nintendo DS Lite. Its a pretty cool piece of hardware. She also got me a game (Mario & Luigi Partners in time). Its a pretty interesting and funny game. The Mario brothers go back in time and team up with the baby Mario and Luigi to help save the Princess Peach. Its a pretty straight forward game but so far its been entertaining.
What I want to do is try and turn my new NDS into some sort of organizer. What would be cool, and I saw some rumors a while ago, is to turn this thing into a Palm organizer. I read from some articles a while back that Nintendo was gonna liscense the Palm OS to put onto the DS. Now that would be something. That would actually be an awesome item, but so far I cant really find much on an organizer for the NDS.

My Super Short Stupid Moment

I cant believe I did that. I cant believe I did that. I cant believe I did that. Stupid me, not thinking before acting. How could I have overwrite my whole computer without making a backup first. AHHHHH!!! Geez, now I guess I'm screwed.

Went to CompUSA yesterday (On my Birthday) and got myself "Search and Recover 3". I haven't used it yet but I gonna try it out to get my information back. Lets see what did I lose. Pictures, Movies, Documents, MY RESUME, and some program files stored away. Darn... Well, I guess I can look at the bright side, now I have an excuse to get myself a new laptop... YAY!

Email Addresses

Has it ever occured to you that you got a gazzillion billion quantatrillion email addresses and you don't know what to do with them all. Thats exactly how I feel. Everytime I check my email, I have to go to all my different webmails to see if I have anything from anyone. This can be a big pain in the butt when you check email every few hours.

I thought I had a solution. I forwarded all my emails from my million catrillion different email addresses to my yahoo email. And from my yahoo email, i got it to send me a text message whenever I get a new email. This is a excellent feature since i know when i get emails. The only problem is that i get quite a few spam mail coming in from all my different email addresses so it gets quite irritating getting text messages saying i have spam in my email box.

Another issue that recently occured is when i started working at the electrical engineering department at the University. They have mail stored on the server so i needed some form of POP3 mail. Usually i deal with only webmail, but since working there, i needed to have a way to check my mail on the server. At first yahoo mail has this thing where you can put the POP3 mail account on the yahoo mail, but you would need to click a buttom whenever you want to check for mail. I find this button clicking annoying. Everytime you click the button, "sorry but you do not have any new mail on the server". After looking into things some more, i found a way to forward my mail on the server to any email account, so i just forwarded it to my yahoo mail account. Yahoo mail is nice, the Spam in NOT!!

Memorial Day

What is better? Some kind of fruit salad thingy or some devils egg salad. Chose the devils egg cause I don't think the fruit salad thing would last in the sun. Went to Kaka'ako beach park several minutes later and hung around. Now I don't know why, but I seemed to have gotta a bit of a sun burn on my neck. It wasn't really sunny that much, but I think since I was out in the sun for several hours let my skin get burned up. Ginger got all mad at me for not putting on any sun tan lotion. I think next time I need to put on some sun block or else she's gonna kill me!!

I live this life day by day, and that also means the choices I have to make and the time I spend doing all the things going on in my life. Life just gets harder and harder. Its difficult to balance out everything in my life. Life can get so stressful. Sometimes I am so physically, spiritually, and emotionally exhausted. I guess its because its the summer, so so many things are going on and so many things happen all at the same time. I bet when school starts again in the fall, everyone is gone, and everyone is busy doing their usual school things- so it'll be back to nothing going on and I'l probably be bored out of my mind. But until then...

Also I want so many new gadgets! I want a new cell phone, a new laptop, a new digital camera!! For the laptop, waiting for the Merom processor to come out in late 2006. Maybe I'll get it in a Macbook? Who knows? Digital Camera... Canon A540? Casio Z850? Canon SD600? Who knows. I want them all. Cell phone. I'm very sad that cingular does not have any free incoming text messaging. I use my free incoming text alot. If i which over to cingular or any other service, then I will lose out on that and I won't be able to get any text messaging. So sad... But for the phone itself, I think I would have to get the sony ericsson w600i. Nothing else is good for a low price. Sucks... Gadgets, oh how I love them. Too bad I don't need any gadgets, so I got no need to urgently get anything new.

New Computer News

Well well well... Looks like apple has recently released their new MacBook, taking over the ibook line. These 13.3 inch widescreen MacBook come in white and black with a glossy screen. Looks really good. Very delightful computer from apple. I wish I could get one of these just to play with. Even has the built in i-sight. Nice eye-candy. Nice price ($1100-$1500). But still... a Mac.

Also up in the news of computer laptops, AMD recently officially added their new line of AMD Turion X2, which is the first dual core 64-bit processor for mobile computers. HP will be the first to take in these new line of processors in June. Finally, what I've been waiting for. Intel will have their competing processor, Merom, come out in August. Turion X2 or Merom????? Which one should i have in my next laptop. So far, the spec for th Turion X2 shows the 1.8 processor to consume 33 Watts and 2.0 consumes 35 Watts with 2 x 512 Kb. Very very interesting. I can't wait to get my hands on a new computer.

Work Work Work

I think it says that i dont have any Federal Work Study money next year so it seems that i might have to go and find another job. I dont know what to do. There aren't alot of things that i want to do. I want a job that can work around my schedule, and also isn't so boring. I also dont know if i want to work during the summer. It would be kind of weird if i don't and ginger does. I don't know what would happen. I already applied to the media center for a desk job, but it would seem that i might not like that job. It seems it might be boring. AND I DONT WANT NO BORING JOB. i know how that would be already. Well not working during the summer isn't that big of a thing, but i would like to work during the school year because i might want the money. Don't wanna use mom and dad's money all the time. A feverish Few Days

Well ive been kind of sick lately and i have skipped a few classes to go home and rest. I sleep in bed so much now. I think i had one serious fever one day and then the rest were kind of less serious. I feel kind of better now after a few days but i still feel sick. Ive been stressing over my schoolwork since its the last few weeks of school. I passed by screener test for ICS 390. Now i can grab that class. That will definately help me with my requirements.

Tech Wish of the Day:
Well i have been wanting to get a new laptop for the longest time. I really dont need to have one, but i just would like it. Ive been looking at the Dell Inspiron 6400. It is an intel duo core processor laptop. It looks pretty good and with deals, it goes around $1200 or lower. Maybe ill get it later over the summer, but idk when there will be a good deal for it. Plus i never bought anything from dell before so i would need to make an account with them. And its in the small business section, so idk how to get it if i dont have a small business. Also i have been trying to get my wireless router to work up in my room for the longest time. If i do get a new laptop, i would like wireless internet up here in my room. I need to get it up and about. Ive been working on it for so long, but i dont know how to get it to work. I think i might need help to get it to work, but i want to do it myself. Stupid router, hurry up and work already!!

Easter Weekend

Spring Break With God

It was a great week at the Hawaii Youth Convention. Every night was a great time with my God. His spirit just moved in my heart. My life is filled with his great holiness. I never regret having to spend time in God's presence. I draw closer to God with each experience I get.

My body was totally exhausted after this weekend. I came home and slept for almost 24 hours. I really feel refreshed, but now i realized that my break is cut short and is almost over. I have to get back into the rutine of school again. Hopefully I will always show my time spent with God

Ginger Came Back

Ive been using the term "Datz Kool" or "Datz Not Kool" I guess that would be my words for a while till i find some other thing to say. Lol.

Well Ginger came back on Friday. I went to go pick her up. At least this time it was really fast and it didnt take a long time to get her. Before i was at church cuz the cell was going to fort shafter to go bowling. I went with them but i didnt really stay long because Ginger called.

After we went home and then went to go grab a bite to eat. The guy on the other side of the table seemed lonely. He was eating all by himself. Thats so sad. But ya, went to Safeway to get her some carrot sticks and suger snap peas w/ ranch dressing. I tried it on Saturday. It was alright. I liked the ranch dressing.

Did the same old stuff with her. Went to her grams house and eat dinner and watch tv and talk to family and stuff. At home watched another dvd, wedding crashers AGAIN. She fell asleep by the end of the movie so had to go home without saying goodbye.

Today went to church and then ate pho again. Den after at home i set up downstair's internet. It was really fast this time. Thats good. I hated doing the other person's internet cuz her laptop is so annoying. The card that downstairs bought is pretty ok.

Just one more week before spring break. Seems so busy cuz Ginger here and gotta do all these things for school. I hope everything goes alright.

Endless Writing Finally Ends
